COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Nikolai Zherdev and Fredrik Modin each scored a goal Friday night as Columbus beat the Los Angeles Kings, 2-0.
Zherdev scored with just under one minute left in the first period. Modin scored midway through the third.
Rick Nash, Anders Eriksson and David Vyborny each had one assist and goalie Pascal Leclaire stopped all 38 shots he faced for the Blue Jackets (3-4-1), who, despite the victory, remain in last place in the Central Division with seven points.
Goaltender Dan Cloutier was beaten twice on only 14 shots for the Kings (3-7-2), who have eight points -- good for fourth place in the Pacific Division, ahead of only Phoenix.
On the power play, Los Angeles was 0-for-8 and Columbus went 0-for-5.
