NHL: New Jersey 2, Florida 0

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur stopped 29 shots to record his first shutout of the year Thursday night as New Jersey beat Florida, 2-0.

Zach Parise and Patrik Elias scored power play goals and four players each had one assist for the Devils (5-4-1), who have 11 points to lead the Atlantic Division.

Brodeur recorded his 82nd career shutout, tying Jacques Plante for fourth on the league's all-time list. Plante accomplished the feat in 837 games while Brodeur has appeared in 822 contests.

Glenn Hall is third on the list with 84 shutouts.

With the victory, New Jersey avoided its first four-game winless streak since Dec. 6-11, 2005.

Alex Auld stopped 21 of 23 shots for the Panthers, who haven't won in New Jersey since Oct. 22, 2003.

On the power play, New Jersey was 2-for-6 while holding the Panthers scoreless on two opportunities.
