PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Left-handed pitcher Jamie Moyer has signed a 2-year contract extension with the Philadelphia Phillies, a deal with a base value of $10.5 million.
Moyer, 43, was 11-14 with a 4.30 earned run average this past season while appearing in 33 games for Seattle and Philadelphia. He started eight games for the Phillies, going 5-2 with a 5.02 ERA, after joining the team in an Aug. 20 trade for two minor league pitchers.
"Jamie was one of our more effective pitchers down the stretch," said Phillies General Manager Pat Gillick. "He was an asset to our ballclub not just for his performance on the field, but also for his presence in the clubhouse."
Moyer has a career record of 216-166 with a 4.17 ERA. The Phillies are his seventh team. He made his major league debut on June 16, 1986 for the Cubs.
