NHL: N.Y. Rangers 5, Toronto 4 (SO)

TORONTO, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- A shoot-out goal by Brendan Shanahan Saturday night gave the New York Rangers a 5-4 win over Toronto.

Shanahan also scored on the power play in the first period.

Nigel Dawes and Jason Ward each scored a goal, Michael Nylander and Jaromir Jagr both had two assists and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist gave up four goals on 38 shots -- but none in overtime or in the shoot-out -- for the Rangers (4-4-0), who are tied with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh for second place in the Atlantic Division with eight points.

Darcy Tucker scored twice, Jeff O'Neill scored a goal in the third period to send the contest into overtime, Alexei Ponikarovsky scored once, Michael Peca and Ian White both had two assists and goalie Andrew Raycroft surrendered four goals on 28 shots for the Maple Leafs (4-2-3), who are in second place in the Northeast Division with 11 points.
