NHL: Atlanta 4, Florida 2

ATLANTA, Oct. 21 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa scored twice Saturday night as Atlanta beat the Florida Panthers, 4-2.

One of his goals came on a penalty shot in the second period and the other was un-assisted in the third period.

J.P. Vigier and Ilya Kovalchuk each scored once, three players each had one assist and goalie Kari Lehtonen gave up two goals on 20 shots for the Thrashers (6-1-1-), who sit atop the Southeast Division with 13 points.

Chris Gratton and Joe Nieuwendyk each scored one goal, three players had one assist each and goaltender Alex Auld made 20 saves on 23 shots for the Panthers (4-4-1), whose nine points are good for second place in the Southeast.

On the power play, Atlanta was 1-for-8 and Florida went 1-for-6.
