NHL: Tampa Bay 4, Florida 1

TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Marc Denis made 23 saves on 24 shots Saturday night as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Florida Panthers, 4-1.

Ruslan Fedotenko had a goal and an assist; Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Dimitry Afanasenkov each scored once; and Dan Boyle had two assists for the Lightning (2-3-0), who have only four points after a slow start in the new season.

Steve Weiss scored the lone goal on the power play in the first period; Mike Van Ryn and Jozef Stumpel assisted on that goal; while goalie Ed Belfour was beaten four times on 36 shots for the Panthers (2-3-0).

On the power play, Florida went 2-for-6; and Tampa Bay was 1-for-6.
