NHL: Edmonton 4, Colorado 3

DENVER, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Oilers Petr Sykora and Ryan Smyth scored twice each as Edmonton edged Colorado, 4-3, at the Pepsi Center in Denver Saturday night.

Dwayne Roloson stopped 39 shots for his 100th win and gave the Oilers a second victory in a row.

Despite scores by Wojtek Wolski and Tyler Arnason and 21 saves by goalie Jose Theodore, it was the first regulation loss for the Avalanche this season.

Colorado grabbed a 1-0 lead at 8:07 and 41 seconds later, Edmonton tied the game 1-1. Arnason gave the Avs the lead with 8:48 left in the second, but the Oilers answered with three straight goals.

With Edmonton on the power play, Smyth tied the game at 2-2 with 2:46 left to play in the second. Then, just 20 seconds into the final period, Smyth put Edmonton up 3-2.

Sykora's second goal of the game 4:11 into the third gave the Oilers a two goal advantage, but Milan Hejduk's first tally of the season with 8:10 left cut Colorado's deficit in half.

The Avs pulled Theodore with time running out, but Roloson and the Oilers held on for the victory.
