ST. PAUL, Minn., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Mikko Koivu scored the game-winning goal in a shootout Thursday night as Minnesota edged the Washington Capitals, 3-2.
Kim Johnsson scored both regulation goals; Mikko Koivu, Pierre-Marc Bouchard, Marian Gaborik and Pavol Demitra each had one assist; and goalie Manny Fernandez made 24 saves on 26 shots for the unbeaten Wild (4
0), who have won their first four games to start a season for the first time in franchise history.

Dainius Zubrus and Alexander Semin each scored once; Chris Clark, Alexander Ovechkin, Jamie Heward, and Kris Beech all had one assist; and goaltender Brent Johnson was beaten twice in 36 shots for the Capitals (1-1-1), who have three points in their three games.
Minnesota has eight points.
On the power play, Minnesota went 2-for-11 while the Capitals were 1-for-6.
