NHL: Florida 6, Carolina 3

SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Florida defeated Carolina 6-3 Wednesday, led by Olli Johnson's two scores and two assists.

The Hurricanes became the first team in NHL history to follow up a Stanley Cup championship season with four consecutive losses to start the following campaign.

Gary Roberts also scored twice and Stephen Weiss added a goal and two assists for the Panthers.

Alex Auld stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced in the win.

Eric Belanger, Scott Walker and Andrew Hutchinson each had goals for the Hurricanes. John Grahame made 25 saves in defeat.
