NASHVILLE, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Brian Rolston scored a goal just 71 seconds before the end of regulation Saturday night to give the Minnesota Wild a 6-5 win over Nashville.
The goal capped a high-scoring third period, in which the two teams combined to score five times.
Rolston also had two assists. Pavol Demitra and Marian Gaborik each had one goal and one assist, Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Kurtis Foster each had two assists and goaltenders Manny Fernandez and Niklas Backstrom combined to allow five goals on 30 shots for the Wild (2
0), who have four points after winning their first two games of the new season.
Steve Sullivan had one goal and two assists for Nashville. Scott Hartnell, Marek Zidlicky and Martin Erat all scored once and goalie Tomas Vokoun gave up six goals on 34 shots for the Predators (0-2-0).
Minnesota scored a team-record five power-play goals on eight attempts while Nashville went 2-for-7.
