NHL: Columbus 5, Chicago 4

CHICAGO, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Rick Nash scored two goals to help the Columbus Blue Jackets take a 5-4 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in Chicago.

Manny Malhotra had a goal and an assist for the visiting Blue Jackets Saturday night. Pascal Leclaire stopped 18 shots.

For the Blackhawks, Jeffrey Hamilton and Martin Havlat each scored a goal and had an assist. Nikolai Khabibulin made 19 saves.

With the score tied 2-2 heading into the second period, Columbus scored three goals within 2:44 to take a 5-2 lead. Mahotra started the scoring with a power-play goal at 10:49 in the period. Less than a minute later, Nash scored his second goal of the game, this one at even strength. Jason Chimera finished the Blue Jackets' scoring with 6:27 left in the second period.

The Blackhawks scored two goals 23 seconds a part late in the final period to make it a one-goal game.

Patrick Sharp poked a goal past Leclaire with 4:19 to play followed by Havlat smacking a mid-air rebound. Havlat followed shortly, smacking a rebound out of mid-air from the right side of the net to make it a 5-4 game with 3:56 to play.
