ATLANTA, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa had two goals and one assist Saturday night as the Atlanta Thrashers blasted the Florida Panthers, 6-0.
In a big second period, Hossa scored two power play goals and Slava Kozlov scored once as Atlanta all but settled the issue with a 5-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Jon Sim, Bobby Holik and Andy Sutton also had a goal apiece. Kozlov added two assists and Kari Lehtonen made 22 saves on 22 shots for the Thrashers (1-1-0), who lost to Tampa Bay, 3-2, in a shootout in their season opener Thursday night.
Ed Belfour allowed four goals on just nine shots and back-up goaltender Alex Auld gave up two goals on 25 shots for the Panthers (1-1-0).
Atlanta went 2-for-8 on the power play, while stopping the Panthers on their four opportunities.
