Landis vows to ride again, clear name

MURIETA, Calif., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Floyd Landis, the controversial winner of this year's Tour de France, vows to ride again and clear his name of doping allegations.

Landis has undergone hip replacement surgery since winning the grueling bike race and is preparing to begin workouts again.

He faces a 2-year racing suspension and the possible loss of his Tour de France title. A hearing on the matter is expected in early 2007.

He told CBS the race "was one of the best experiences of my life." The lowest point came when he tested positive for performance-enhancing substances. He called the test "faulty" and denied taking drugs.
