STUTTGART, Germany, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Nadia Petrova of Russia and Switzerland's Patty Schnyder Thursday were second round winners at the Porsche Grand Prix tennis tournament in Stuttgart, Germany.
Petrova, the fourth seed, beat Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany, 6-3, 6-4, and Schnyder, the fifth seed, topped Israel's Shahar Peer, 7-6 (7-3), 2-6, 6-4.
Unseeded Lisa Raymond of the United States was beaten by Michaella Krajicek of Netherlands, 6-4, 6-2.
Raymond replaced top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo, who was forced to withdraw Wednesday because of a right shoulder injury.
Elsewhere, Tatiana Golovin of France beat Iveta Benesova of the Czech Republic, 6-4, 6-3, and Tszvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria was leading No. 8 seed Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, 6-4, 1-0, in the second set before that match was suspended by darkness.
