MLB: Toronto 7, N.Y. Yankees 5

NEW YORK, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Adam Lind hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Sunday to give Toronto a 7-5 win over the New York Yankees.

Lind had two runs, two hits, and three RBI; Alex Rios had two runs, three hits, and one RBI; Aaron Hill hit an RBI double; Lyle Overbay hit an RBI single; John McDonald had a run and two hits; and Russ Adams had one RBI for the Blue Jays (87-75), who won seven of their final 10 games.

In relief, the winner was Josh Towers (2-10).

Scott Downs earned his only save of the year.

Jorge Posada hit a two-run homer; both Kevin Thompson and Andy Phillips hit run-scoring singles; and Derek Jeter drove in a run for the Yankees (97-65), who closed the season with two losses in their final three games.

The losing pitcher was Kyle Farnsworth (3-6).
