CHICAGO, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The Chicago Cubs scored three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings Sunday and beat Colorado, 8-5.
Ronny Cedeno had one run, two hits, and three RBI; Aramis Ramirez hit a two-run homer; John Mabry hit an RBI single; and Juan Pierre had two hits and one RBI for the Cubs (66-96), who finished last in the NL East Division.
The winner was reliever David Aardsma (3-0).
Kaz Matsui hit a two-run homer; Garrett Atkins hit a solo shot; Brad Hawpe hit a two-run double; and Atkins had two runs and three hits for the Rockies (76-86), who finished the season with four losses in their final six games.
The losing pitcher was Jeremy Affeldt (4-2).
Media reports say Cubs Manager Dusty Baker will be fired on Monday. His four-year contract expired after the game.
Team president Any MacPhail resigned immediately after the game.
