The team's executives held a meeting on Thursday morning, when Robinson's future apparently was decided. Before Thursday night's 3-1 win over Philadelphia, he met separately with President Stan Kasten and GeneralMmanager Jim Bowden.

"I guess it was as positive as it can be," Robinson said on the team's Web site. "I had my say, we sat down, each one, and I had my discussions with them. I am very comfortable with what I had to say."

Robinson was baseball's first black manager in 1975.

As a player for 21 years, he was a 12-time all-star and remains the only person to be named the MVP in both leagues.

He said he will not discuss his future until he speaks with his team after Sunday's season finale against the New York Mets.
