MLB: Cincinnati 5, Florida 3

MIAMI, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- David Ross hit a pair of home runs Tuesday as Cincinnati kept its playoff hopes alive while eliminating Florida from postseason contention, 5-3.

The Reds, who have five regular season games remaining, are in third place in the NL Central, three games behind division-leading St. Louis.

Chris Denorfia went 4-for-4 and drove in a run for the Reds, who won their third straight. Norris Hopper finished 3-for-4 and scored once.

Matt Belisle allowed one run on three hits in 3 2/3 innings in his first start of the season. Ryan Franklin (6-7) earned the win after pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Cody Ross went 2-for-4 and scored once for the Marlins, who lost their fourth straight.
