MLB: Arizona 7, San Francisco 1

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Edgar Gonzalez gave up one run on five hits and Conor Jackson hit a three-run homer to help the Diamondbacks oust the Giants from playoff contention, 7-1.

Arizona's Gonzalez (3-3) won his second straight start beating San Francisco's Jason Schmidt (11-9) for the first time since September 5, 2002. Eric Byrnes hit a home run and Miguel Montero was 3-for-4 with two RBI as the Diamondbacks downed the Giants for just the third time in their last nine meetings.

Eliezer Alfonzo had two hits and Ray Durham had two hits including a home run for San Francisco, which lost for its fifth straight game and was eliminated from post-season contention. The Giants trail Los Angeles and Philadelphia by seven games in the wildcard race with six games left.
