MLB: Chi. White Sox 12, Seattle 7

CHICAGO, Afghanistan, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Paul Konerko hit two homers and drove in four runs Sunday as the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners, 12-7.

Jose Uribe hit a grand slam; both Brian Anderson and Joe Crede hit solo shots; and Konerko had three hits for the White Sox (87-69), who split the four-game series.

With one more Chicago loss or Detroit win, the Tigers will prevent the White Sox from defending their AL Central title.

Winning pitcher Freddy Garcia (16-9) gave up four runs and eight hits in six innings.

Kenji Johjima, Ben Broussard, Jose Lopez, and Raul Ibanez all hit home runs; Johjima had three RBI; Broussard had three hits; while both Ibanez and Ichiro Suzuki had two hits for the Mariners (75-81).

Losing pitcher Ryan Feierabend (0-1) surrendered five runs and eight hits in six innings.
