NFL: Philadelphia 38, San Francisco 24

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Brian Westbrook scored three touchdowns Sunday as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the San Francisco 49ers, 38-24.

Westbrook picked up 117 yards and two TDs rushing, and added 47 yards and a TD through the air for the Eagles. Donovan McNabb went 18-of-33 for 296 yards and two touchdown strikes with no interceptions, and defensive tackle Mike Patterson recovered a fumble and returned it 98 yards for a touchdown.

Alex Smith was 27-of-46 for 293 yards and one touchdown for the 49ers (1-2). Rookie Michael Robinson scored twice on the ground in place of Frank Gore, who left the game in the third quarter with an abdominal strain and did not return.

Joe Nedney hit a 48-yard field goal for San Francisco.
