The win was the second for Kuznetsova in as many weeks. She won the Wismilak International at Bali, Indonesia, last week.

Sunday's title was the eighth in her career.

Kuznetsova is expected to rise to No. 4 in the world when the latest rankings are released Monday.

Mauresmo, from France, who is the top-ranked women's player in the world, was trying to win her fifth title of the year. She previously won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, the Paris Indoors in February and the Proximus Diamond Games at Antwerp, Belgium, also in February.

In seven career meetings, Kuznetsova has won the last three after Mauresmo won the first four.
