Seahawks activate Deion Branch

SEATTLE, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- The Seattle Seahawks Saturday activated recently acquired wide receiver Deion Branch for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Seattle traded with New England for Branch on Sept. 11 when he left the Patriots in the wake of a contract dispute.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that Branch will be part of a four-man rotation at wide receiver with Darrell Jackson, Nate Burleson and Bobby Engram.

The 5-foot-9 inch Branch, a former Super Bowl MVP, was a second-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2002 out of Louisville.

In four years, he has 213 receptions for 2,744 yards and 14 touchdowns in 53 games.

To make room on their roster, the Seahawks released defensive tackle Chris Cooper.
