MLB: Colorado 9, San Francisco 8

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Colorado edged San Francisco, 9-8, Wednesday, and the Giants fell 2 1/2 games behind San Diego in the National League wild card race.

In the losing effort, Barry Bonds was 2-for-4 with his 732nd career homer for the Giants. Bonds is now just 23 home runs short of Hank Aaron's all-time record of 755.

Jeff Baker, Chris Iannetta and Choo Freeman each drove in a pair of runs for the Rockies. Jamey Carroll finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored for the Rockies, who have won five of their past six contests.

Colorado starter Jason Jennings (8-12) went 5 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on eight hits. He picked up the win. Brian Fuentes earned his 26th save.

San Francisco's Noah Lowry (7-9) gave up five runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings for the loss.
