ST. LOUIS, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Roy Oswalt scattered a run and seven hits over 8 1/3 innings Wednesday afternoon, helping Houston beat St. Louis, 5-0.
Chris Burke had two hits, including a two-run RBI single; Eric Bruntlett also hit an RBI single; Luke Scott walked with the bases loaded to force in a run; Lance Berkman hit a solo home run; and Willy Taveras had a run and three hiuts for the Astros (70-74), who averted a three-game sweep and have split their last 10 games.
Oswalt (13-8) walked two and struck out three. Dan Wheeler recorded his fifth save.
Ronny Belliard had two of the seven hits for the Cardinals (77-68), who have split their last four games.
Losing pitcher Jason Marquis (14-15) surrendered four runs and five hits in the first inning before being yanked.
