ST. LOUIS, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Jeff Wilkins kicked six field goals Sunday afternoon to help the St. Louis Rams beat Denver, 18-10.
Steven Jackson ran for 121 yards on 22 carries, Marc Bulger was 18-of-34 passing for 217 yards, Torry Holt made seven receptions for 80 yards, and Isaac Bruce added five catches for 64 yards for the Rams (1-0), who failed to score a touchdown despite spending most of the game in or near the red zone.
Jake Plummer completed 13 of 26 passes for 138 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions, and lost a critical fumble. Javon Walker made three catches for 41 yards, Tatum Bell ran for 103 yards on 15 carries, while Mike Bell had 58 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts for the Broncos (0-1), who committed five turnovers that led to nine points for the Rams.
The outcome made Scott Linehan a winner in his debut as the Rams' head coach.
