MLS: Chicago 2, Columbus 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- C.J. Brown and Nate Jaqua scored goals in the first half Saturday as the Chicago beat the Columbus Crew, 2-1.

Goalkeeper Matt Pickens needed to make eight saves because the Crew took nine shots on goal.

Bill Gaudette made one save for the Fire against three shots on goal for the Crew, who got their lone goal by Sebastian Rozental in the 72nd minute.

Chicago (10-8-8), in second place in the Eastern Conference with 38 points, survived a late penalty kick by Rozental to extend its unbeaten streak to six games.

Columbus (6-13-8) is last in the Eastern Conference with 26 points, and out of contention for the playoffs.
