NFL: Pittsburgh 28, Miami 17

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Joey Porter's fourth-quarter 42-yard interception return for a touchdown Thursday night sealed Pittsburgh's 28-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Back-up quarterback Charlie Batch was 15-of-25 for 209 yards and three touchdowns for the Steelers. Willie Parker ran for 115 yards on 29 carries; Heath Miller caught an 89-yard scoring pass and had three catches for 101 yards; Nate Washington caught a 27-yard touchdown pass; and defensive back Troy Polamalu also made a key interception for the Steelers (1-0).

Daunte Culpepper was 18-of-37 for 262 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions for Miami. Ronnie Brown rushed for 30 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, but lost a key fumble; and Wesley Welker caught four passes for 67 yards for the Dolphins (0-1).

It was the first contest in the NFL's 2006 season and was played at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, the home of the reigning Super Bowl champions.
