KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Jorge Posada hit two three-run homers Wednesday night to help the New York Yankees beat Kansas City, 8-3.
Derek Jeter had two hits, including an RBI double; Melky Cabrera hit an RBI single; and Posada scored three times for the Yankees (83-55), who have won three of their last four games.
In seven scoreless innings, winner Randy Johnson (16-10) surrendered one hit, walked two and struck out eight.
He took a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh.
Estaban German hit a two-run homer, John Buck hit an RBI single, and two other players each had one hit for the Royals (52-89), who have split their last six games.
Losing pitcher Runelvys Hernandez (5-9) gave up seven hits and five runs in six innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
