Eagles release Pinkston, Detmer

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles Wednesday released two longtime veterans, wide receiver Todd Pinkston and quarterback Koy Detmer.

The Eagles also signed quarterback A.J. Feeley to a new two-year contract and placed wide receiver/kick returner Jeremy Bloom on injured reserve.

Pinkston -- who missed the 2005 season after tearing his left Achilles tendon in the preseason -- was a second-round draft pick by Philadelphia in 2000.

He caught 184 passes for 2,816 yards and 14 touchdowns, but was expendable when the Eagles acquired Donte' Stallworth from New Orleans Monday.

"Todd has had seven great years here for the Philadelphia Eagles," Coach Andy Reid said on the team's Web site. "There is no one that I have respected more than Todd, who has helped us win a lot of football games. We have decided to give him an opportunity to move on to another team where there was still time for him to latch on as a starter."
