WNBA: Sacramento 72, Los Angeles 58

ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Yolanda Griffith scored 15 points Saturday night as Sacramento beat Los Angeles, 72-58, to win their WNBA Western Conference playoff series, two games to none.

In a balanced scoring attack, Kara Lawson scored 13 points; while both DeMya Walker and Rebbekah Brunson scored 10 points for the defending champion Monarchs, who are the first Western Conference team to qualify for the title series in two straight seasons since Los Angeles played in three straight finals from 2001-2003.

It was a disappointing loss for the Sparks, who were the top seed in the West, and had beaten Sacramento in all three regular season contests.

Tamara Moore scored 16 points; Mwadi Mabika had 15 points; and all-star center Lisa Leslie was held to 10 points for the Sparks.

The Monarchs will play either Detroit or Connecticut for the league title.

Those two teams will settle their Eastern Conference Final Sunday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Mich.
