MLB: Colorado 13, San Diego 5

DENVER, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Brad Hawpe knocked in four runs Friday night to help Colorado pound the San Diego Padres, 13-5.

One of his four hits was two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.


Matt Holliday had three runs, three hits, and two RBI; Ryan Spilborghs had one run, two hits, and three RBI; Todd Helton had four hits and one RBI; and Kaz Matsui had three runs and two hits for the Rockies (60-68), who snapped a six-game losing streak.

Winner Jeff Francis (10-10) gave up eight hits and five runs in six innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

Mike Cameron had three hits and two RBI; Josh Barfield had two runs, two hits, and two RBI; and Mike Piazza hit an RBI single for the Padres (65-63), who have split their last 10 games.

Losing pitcher Mike Thompson (3-5) was torched for eight runs and 11 hits in four innings.
