Woods leads by one at Akron

SOUTH AKRON, Ohio, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods shot 6-under-par 64 Friday to take a one-shot lead over Davis Love III after two rounds of the World Golf Championship in South Akron, Ohio.

Woods, who won the PGA Championship, the year's final major tournament last weekend, had an adventure on his final hole.

His ball caromed off the roof of the clubhouse and he settled for a day-ending bogey.

His score after 36 holes is 9-under 131.

Love (65), who was tied for fourth place with Woods and Luke Donald when the round began, is 8-under 132.

First-round leader Adam Scott (71) and Jim Furyk (65) are tied for third at 6-under 134.

Kevin Stadler (67), Ernie Els (67), and Lucas Glover (69) are tied for fifth at 5-under 135.

Among those likely missing the cut were Scott Verplank (146), Corey Pavin (147), Masters champion Phil Mickelson (148), and Stuart Appleby (151).
