MLB: Pittsburgh 5, Houston 3

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Pittsburgh staged a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday night and beat Houston, 5-3, for its third straight win.

Jason Bay had one run, three hits and one RBI; Ronny Paulino had two hits and one RBI; Freddy Sanchez and Jose Bautista each knocked in a run; while Chris Duffy had two runs and two hits for the Pirates (50-78), who have split their last 10 games.

Winner Paul Maholm (6-10) yielded three runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings with four walks and one strikeout.

Mike Gonzalez recorded his 24th save.

Chris Burke hit a two-run homer, while both Luke Scott and Willy Taveras had a run and two hits for the Astros (60-68), who have dropped three of their last four games.

Losing pitcher Wandy Rodriguez (9-8) gave up eight hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.
