CINCINNATI, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- David Ross knocked in five runs Saturday night to help Cincinnati rip the Pittsburgh Pirates, 14-7.
Ross had three runs and three hits, including a solo home run; Brandon Phillips had one run, three hits -- including a two-run homer -- and three RBI; Edwin Encarnacion hit two doubles that produced three runs; Ryan Freel had two runs and three hits; while Royce Clayton had two runs and two hits for the Reds (63-60), who have split their last six games.
In relief, the winning pitcher was Ryan Franklin (3-6).
Jason Bay hit a three-run homer and had four RBI; Xavier Nady hit a two-run double; Ronny Paulino hit an RBI single; and Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez both had two runs and three hits for the Pirates (47-76), who have lost three of their last four games.
The losing pitcher was Salomon Torres (3-6).
