CHICAGO, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- An RBI single by Phil Nevin in the bottom of the 10th inning Saturday afternoon gave the Chicago Cubs a 5-4 win over St. Louis.
Nevin had two hits and two RBI; Ronny Cedeno had two hits and one RBI; Matt Murton hit an RBI double; and Chicago scored a run on a wild pitch by St. Louis starter Jeff Suppan. The Cubs (53-69) improved to 8-1 against St. Louis at Wrigley Field this season and have five wins in their last six games.
The winner was reliever Michael Wuertz (1-0).
Chris Duncan and Yadier Molina hit solo home runs, Ronny Belliard hit an RBI double, and Albert Pujols hit a sacrifice fly for the Cardinals (65-57), who lost for the sixth time in their last 10 games.
The losing pitcher was Jason Isringhausen (4-6).
