MLB: Kansas City 7, Oakland 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Ryan Shealy had three hits and two RBI Friday afternoon as Kansas City beat Oakland, 7-1, in the first game of a doubleheader.

Joey Gathright hit a sacrifice fly and a run-scoring single; Mike Sweeney hit an RBI double; Andres Blanco and Emil Brown both drove in a run; and Mark Teahen had a run and two hits for the Royals (44-79), who have won three of their last four games.

In seven innings, winner Luke Hudson (6-4) allowed only a run and five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Milton Bradley hit an RBI single and had two of the six hits for the Athletics (68-53), who had a six-game winning streak broken.

Losing pitcher Joe Blanton (13-10) surrendered two runs and eight hits in six innings.

Oakland relievers gave up five runs in two innings.
