PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Cincinnati scored three runs in the ninth inning against closer Tom Gordon to beat Philadelphia, 9-7.
Brandon Phillips hit a solo home run; Ryan Freel had one run, two hits, and three RBI; Scott Hatteberg had two hits, including an RBI single; while Edwin Enarnacion, starting pitcher Elizardo Ramirez, and Javier Valentin all had one RBI each for the Reds (60-57), who have split their last four games.
The winner was reliever Chris Michalak (1-0).
Eddie Guardado recorded his eighth save.
Jimmy Rollins hit two home runs and had three runs, two hits, and four RBI; David Dellucci hit a two-run homer; and Ryan Howard had two hits, including a solo homer for the Phillies (56-59), who have split their last four games.
Gordon (3-4) surrendered three runs and four hits in 2/3 of an inning.
