MLB: Cleveland 5, Kansas City 4

CLEVELAND, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Travis Hafner hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday afternoon, giving Cleveland a 5-4 win over Kansas City.

It was Hafner's only hit in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

He increased his RBI total to 98 for the season.

Jason Michaels had two runs and two hits, including a two-run homer; Victor Martinez drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk; Grady Sizemore had two runs and one hit; while Jhonny Peralta hit an RBI single for the Indians (51-64), who have a four-game winning streak.

In relief, the winner was Rafael Betancourt (1-4).

Ryan Shealy, Estaban German and Mark Grudzielanek hit RBI singles; David DeJesus hit a sacrifice fly; and Mark Teahen had a run and three hits for the Royals (41-75), who hast lost two straight following a three-game winning streak.

The loser was Joe Nelson (0-1).
