COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Former Ohio State running Maurice Clarett led Columbus, Ohio police on a car chase Wednesday and was subdued after being sprayed with Mace.
Clarett, 22, was charged with, among other things, carrying a concealed weapon, WCMH-TV, Columbus, reported.
He was held in a county jail at least until an arraignment Thursday morning, Sgt. Michael Woods said.
Officers found a loaded AK-47 rifle, three loaded handguns, a hatchet and an open bottle of vodka inside Clarett's sports utility vehicle, the TV news said.
The chase began after Clarett made an illegal U-turn and failed to stop when a police cruiser tried to pull him over, Woods said.
After running over a spike strip, Clarett pulled into a parking lot. Police were unable to subdue him with a stun gun because the former star was wearing a bulletproof vest, Woods said.
Even after spraying him with Mace it took several officers to handcuff him.
