Kent finished 2-for-5. J.D. Drew had a pair of RBI and two runs scored for Los Angeles, which has won 10 straight games to climb into a first-place tie with Cincinnati for the National League Wild Card.

Prior to Monday, Kent had missed 18 straight contests due to a left oblique strain.

Brad Penny threw eight strong innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four and walking none.

Opposing starter Josh Fogg took the loss, giving up five runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 frames for the Rockies. Fogg was ejected in the fifth inning for arguing with the home plate umpire after being pulled from the game.

Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe each homered for the Rockies in the loss.
