HOUSTON, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Craig Biggio homered and scored twice Tuesday to lead the Houston Astros to a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Preston Wilson and Adam Everett each drove in a run and Brandon Backe (3-1) earned the win after giving up a run on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts over seven innings for Houston, which has won three of its last four games.

Freddy Sanchez went 2-for-3 and Jose Castillo drove in the lone run for Pittsburgh, which has lost three straight games.
Paul Maholm (4-10) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with four walks and six strikeouts over six innings for the Pirates.
