ANAHEIM, Calif., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Garret Anderson's three-run homer in the first inning Sunday afternoon spurred the Los Angeles Angels to a 9-1 rout of Texas.
Bengie Molina and Robb Quinlan hit RBI singles; Howie Kendrick had a run and two hits; Vladimir Guerrero also hit a three-run homer; while Molina, Quinlan and Anderson all had two hits for the Angels (57-54).
The win gave Anaheim a four-game split of the weekend series.
Winner Joe Saunders (3-0) scattered three hits over seven scoreless innings with two walks and six strikeouts.
Gerald Laird hit a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning for the lone Texas run, while he and five others each had one hit for the Rangers (56-56), who had won four games in a row when the series started on Thursday.
Texas starting and losing pitcher Adam Eaton (1-2) gave up two hits and three runs in 2/3 of an inning.
