Tiger Woods wins the Buick Open

GRAND BLANC, Mich., Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Tiger Woods was a solid, three-shot winner Sunday at Buick Open Golf Tournament in Grand Blanc, Mich.

In the final round, Woods shot his fourth straight 6-under 66, and -- at age 30 -- became the youngest player ever to win 50 tournaments. He is the seventh player all time to reach the mark.

His final score was 24-under 264.

"That's pretty cool to get to 50," Woods said. "You never in your wildest dreams think it would happen. I've been blessed and had a lot of good things go my way."

He earned $864,000 for the win.

Jim Furyk, who shot a blistering 8-under 64 on the final day, was runner-up at 21-under 267. Joe Durant (67) was third at 20-under 268.

Scott Verplank (69), Sean O'Hair (67) and Vaughn Taylor (68) all tied for fourth at 19-under 269.

2005 champion Vijay Singh tied for 11th at 17-under 271.
