MLB: Houston 8, Arizona 7

PHOENIX, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Mike Lamb and Willy Taveras hit back-to-back solo home runs in the top of the ninth inning Friday night as Houston edged Arizona, 8-7.

Taveras had three hits and two RBI; Lance Berkman also hit a solo homer; starter Roy Oswalt hit a two-run single; Aubrey Huff had three hits; and Brad Ausmus scored twice for the Astros (52-57), who have split their last 10 games.

The winner was reliever Trever Miller (1-3). Dan Wheeler earned his third save.

Johnny Estrada had two runs, two hits, including a solo home run, and three RBI; Chad Tracy had a run and four hits; Conor Jackson had three runs and three hits; while both Orlando Hudson and Stephen Drew had two hits for the Diamondbacks (55-54), who have three losses in their last five games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Tony Pena (3-1).
