MILWAUKEE, July 30 (UPI) -- Corey Pavin went wire-to-wire this weekend and shot a closing round 3-under 67 Sunday, to win the PGA's U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee.
His four-round total of 20-under 260 earned him the top prize of $720,000.
It was Pavin's first win on the PGA Tour since the 1996 Colonial, and his 15th career title.
He began the tournament with a PGA record for the lowest nine-hole score (26) on the front nine Thursday. He finished that round with 9-under 61, and never looked back.
"I played as well as I could the first, second and fourth rounds," Pavin told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "The third round was OK, but the first, second and fourth were about as good as I could have played."
Jerry Kelly (67) was second at 18-under 262. Jeff Sluman (64) was third at 17-under 263.
D.J. Trahan (69) and Frank Lickliter (69) tied for fourth at 15-under 265.
