Matt Holliday homered, and Todd Helton had three hits and one RBI for the Rockies, who have won five of their last eight -- and beat San Diego three out of four over the weekend to move within 4 1/2 games of the NL Western Division-leading Padres.

Adrian Gonzalez and Terrmel Sledge each had two hits, and Dave Roberts drove in the only run for the Padres.

Padres starter Mike Thompson (3-3) gave up three runs on six hits over six innings, with a strikeout and three walks. Thompson was starting in place of Chan Ho Park, who was put on the 15-day disabled list before the game because of abdominal pain.
