HOUSTON, July 27 (UPI) -- Elizardo Ramirez pitched a strong 6 2/3 innings as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Houston Astros, 8-4, Thursday night.
Ramirez (4-6) gave up one run on six hits with one walk and eight strikeouts -- including seven straight from the third to the fifth innings.
Ken Griffey Jr. and Adam Dunn homered for the Reds, who have won two of their last three games. Dunn finished with four RBI and scored three runs, and Griffey knocked in career RBI number 1,591 -- tying Andre Dawson for 24th on the all-time list.
Craig Biggio had three hits for the Astros, who have lost five of their last seven.
Houston starter Taylor Buchholz (6-9) lasted just two innings, yielding six runs on six hits with one strikeout.
