Williams' daughter sues to regain trophies

SAN DIEGO, July 27 (UPI) -- Ted Williams' daughter has sued a San Diego, Calif., museum in an effort to regain custody of her dad's baseball trophies and war medals.

Claudia F. Williams, the baseball great's sole heir, sought Williams' 1946 and 1949 AL Most Valuable Player awards, two baseball bats used in 1941 when he was the last major leaguer to hit .400 for a complete season, and other items.

The suit claims the San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum is holding the material as collateral for an unpaid loan by Williams' son, the Boston Herald said.
