Moya wins but Coria loses in Croatia Open

UMAG, Croatia, July 25 (UPI) -- Four-time champion Carlos Moya won but defending champ Guillermo Coria of Argentina suffered a first-round upset Tuesday at the Croatia Open in Umag.

The fifth-seeded Moya defeated Czech Jiri Novak 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-3). The former world No. 1 and 1998 French Open titlist Moya won the Umag event in 1996 and from 2001-2003.

Czech Robin Vik defeated 2004 French Open runner-up Coria 6-2, 6-3.

Coria was seeded third this week.

Last week's Dutch Open champion, Serbian Novak Djokovic, defeated Croat Luca Belic 6-3, 6-3, snd Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka upset sixth-seeded Spaniard Alberto Martin 7-6 (7-3), 6-4.
